Yokine Primary School is committed to developing and implementing whole-school approaches to teaching and learning to ensure seamless progression through the years that students are at school. Ongoing assessment is an important part of our school’s pedagogy, and is used to provide feedback to students at the point of error, measure student progress, and for planning next steps in learning. Central to the whole-school approach is our use of explicit instruction.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) program is an evidence-based whole school approach to behaviour management. Yokine Primary School has clear expectations for student behaviour, developed through the WA Positive Behaviour Support Framework, and these are explicitly taught, acknowledged, and celebrated. The framework fosters high levels of student engagement. There is a dedicated PBS team appointed in the school, consisting of representatives from the Leadership Team, Classroom Teachers, Specialist Teachers, Education Assistants and our parent community.
Social and Emotional Wellbeing - "You Can Do It" Program
You Can Do It is a social-emotional learning program that maximises student success, positive relationships and wellbeing. It aims to teach attitudes, values/character strengths and social-emotional skills for success, relationships and wellbeing as well as for overcoming social-emotional blockers. The program contains lessons about positive attitudes and social-emotional skills that develop young children’s resilience, confidence, persistence, organisation and ability to get along with peers.
